Accenture Stock Analysis: Record Bookings Meet Technical Hurdles
Accenture's second-quarter fiscal 2026 results have painted a picture of a company successfully navigating a "competitive market" through aggressive AI expansion and strategic ecosystem partnerships. While the fundamental data shows record-breaking new bookings and revenues at the high end of guidance, the stock now faces critical resistance levels that will determine its next move.

Strong Quarter Backed by AI Momentum
Accenture delivered a strong Q2 performance, highlighted by $22.1 billion in new bookings—a 6% increase in U.S. dollars. Perhaps most impressive was the record 41 clients contributing over $100 million each in quarterly bookings, signaling that large-scale enterprise transformation projects are accelerating.
Revenue came in at $18.04 billion, growing 8% year over year in U.S. dollars and 4% in local currency, landing at the top end of the company’s guided range. CEO Julie Sweet emphasized that the company is "uniquely positioned" to capture AI-based transformation opportunities. With over 60% of revenue now driven by its top 10 ecosystem partners in Q2 FY26 (including Microsoft, Google Cloud, and AWS), Accenture is effectively acting as a leading beneficiary for the enterprise AI boom.
Gross margin for the quarter was 30.3%, improved slightly from 29.9% in Q2 FY25. Profitability remained solid, with operating margin expanding to 13.8%, compared to 13.5% for the second quarter of fiscal 2025. Net income rose to $1.86 billion, compared with $1.82 billion representing a steady, if not explosive, increase. Diluted earnings per share reached $2.93, a 4% increase from $2.82 a year ago.
Cash Flow and Capital Allocation
Cash flow generation continues to be one of Accenture’s strongest attributes. Operating cash flow increased significantly to $3.82 billion, translating into free cash flow of $3.67 billion, a notable improvement from the prior year. This strong cash generation enabled Accenture to maintain an attractive capital return profile. During the second quarter, the company repurchased or redeemed 6.8 million shares for $1.7 billion. This includes 5.1 million shares bought in the open market. On February 13, 2026, Accenture paid a quarterly cash dividend of $1.63 per share (totaling $1.0 billion). Management has declared another $1.63 dividend payable on May 15, 2026, for shareholders of record as of April 9, 2026.
Fiscal 2026 Business Outlook
Accenture slightly refined its full-year outlook:
- Company now expects full-year revenue growth to be 3% to 5% in local currency.
- Now expects full-year GAAP diluted earnings per share to be in the range of $13.25 to $13.50.
- Raises full-year free cash flow expectation to be in the range of $10.8 billion to $11.5 billion.
Technical Analysis
While the fundamentals are robust, the stock's price action remains tethered to specific technical boundaries. Currently, $254 acts as the primary resistance level. A decisive close above $254 would signal an improvement in sentiment. If the stock maintains its position above $254, the next major objective is the $300 key resistance level. Overcoming $300 is essential to confirm a sustained, long-term upward trend.
However, if the stock fails to overcome the $254 level, it may continue to consolidate or weaken, with downside risk toward the $169 support level. In a more negative scenario, particularly if broader market conditions deteriorate, a deeper support level sits at $139.
