Revenue Growth Supported by Supply Chain and Franchise Expansion

The world's largest pizza company reported second-quarter revenue of $1.19 billion, up 4.3% year over year, driven by stronger supply chain sales, higher franchise royalty revenue, and continued global store expansion.

Supply chain revenue increased to $731.7 million from $687.1 million, driven by higher order volumes and a 2.2% increase in the Company’s food basket pricing to stores. U.S. franchise royalties and fees grew to $164.2 million from $156.3 million, reflecting the expanding store base. U.S. franchise advertising revenue was $134.9 million, compared to $132.2 million last year. International franchise royalties rose to $81.8 million from $77.2 million, benefiting from net store growth and a modest $1.1 million tailwind from foreign currency exchange rates.

The one revenue line that declined was U.S. company-owned store revenue, which fell to $81.8 million from $92.5 million — a direct result of Domino's continued refranchising of company-owned store markets.

Comparable Sales Remain Mixed

Domino's reported global retail sales growth of 3.0%, excluding the impact of foreign currency.

Global same-store sales were mixed:

  • U.S. same-store sales increased 0.1%
  • International same-store sales declined 0.1%, excluding foreign currency impacts

Despite modest comparable sales, Domino's generated global net store growth of 209 locations during the quarter, including 26 net new stores in the United States and 183 internationally, further expanding its worldwide footprint.

Profitability: Margins Held, But Not Without Pressure

Total gross profit increased to $478.2 million from $461.0 million a year earlier, although total gross margin edged slightly lower to 40.0% from 40.3%. Supply chain gross margin increased 0.2%, primarily due to procurement productivity, partially offset by an increase in the cost of the Company’s food basket.

Income from operations rose 3.1% to $232.0 million. Excluding favorable foreign exchange impacts on international franchise royalties, operating income increased 2.6%, driven by higher franchise royalties and fees and stronger supply chain profitability.

Operating margin was 19.4%, compared with 19.7% in the prior-year period, as higher general and administrative expenses related to the company's biennial Worldwide Rally partially offset operating gains.

Net income reached $135.8 million, up 3.6% year over year, while diluted EPS increased 6.8% to $4.07, outpacing net income growth due to a lower share count following ongoing stock repurchases.

Balance Sheet and Capital Allocation

During the first half of fiscal 2026, Domino's generated $352.6 million in operating cash flow and $313.6 million in free cash flow after capital expenditures. The company finished the quarter with $164.8 million in cash and cash equivalents while carrying $4.88 billion in total debt.

Through the first half of 2026, total share repurchases reached 632,221 shares worth $231.3 million, leaving $1.23 billion available under the current authorization.

DPZ Stock Technical Analysis

From a technical perspective, DPZ stock continues to face several important technical hurdles before establishing a sustained bullish trend. The first short-term resistance level sits at $342. Until these resistance levels are overcome, the stock may continue to experience range-bound trading despite the company's steady underlying financial performance.
