Supermicro Stock Analysis: Revenue Growth Meets a New AI Growth Cycle
Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI) recently reported its unaudited fourth-quarter and full-year fiscal 2026 financial results, showcasing massive growth driven by accelerating demand for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

Q4 FY26: Revenue Surge and Margin Expansion
For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, Supermicro generated $11.1 billion in revenue, representing a 93% year-over-year increase and a 9% sequential increase.
The biggest surprise came from profitability. Gross margin expanded dramatically to 17.5%, nearly doubling from 9.5% a year ago and well above the previous quarter's 9.9%. On a non-GAAP basis, gross margin reached 17.6%. Management attributed roughly 75% of the gross-margin expansion to a more favorable customer and product mix, including the deferral of several contracts from Q4FY26 to Q1FY27, while lower tariff costs and lower inventory reserves contributed the remainder.
Net income surged to $1.18 billion, or $1.62 per diluted share, compared with $195 million and $0.31 per share in the same quarter last year.
Cash provided by operating activities in Q4 was $747 million. Capital expenditures and investments totaled $25 million, resulting in free cash flow of $722 million.
During the quarter, Supermicro raised $5.6 billion through a common-stock and mandatory-convertible-preferred shares. The GAAP diluted share count increased sequentially from 692 million shares in Q3 to 705 million shares in Q4. The non-GAAP diluted share count increased from 709 million shares to 721 million shares over the same period.
The company ended the quarter with cash and cash equivalents of $7.5 billion and total bank debt and convertible notes of $8.7 billion.
Fiscal 2026 Shows Explosive Revenue Growth
For the full fiscal year, revenue climbed to $39.1 billion, an increase of 78% from $22.0 billion in fiscal 2025, while gross margin declined slightly to 10.8% from 11.1%. Net income more than doubled to $2.2 billion, while GAAP earnings per diluted share increased to $3.26 from $1.68 last year. Non-GAAP EPS reached $3.63, up 76% year over year.
For the full fiscal year, operating cash flow remained negative $6.8 billion, compared with positive operating cash flow of $1.66 billion in fiscal 2025. For FY26, Capex was $162 million, compared with $127 million in FY25 as the company invested in expanding capacity globally.
The company booked a record backlog with more than $60 billion in new orders during the fourth quarter alone, and it now counts nine customers generating over $1 billion each, up from four a year ago.
Fiscal 2027 Outlook
Supermicro expects first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue between $14.5 billion and $15.5 billion, representing another significant sequential increase. Management forecasts GAAP diluted earnings per share between $0.89 and $0.98, with non-GAAP EPS expected between $1.01 and $1.10. Gross margin is projected to normalize into a range of 10.4% to 10.8%.
Looking further ahead, Supermicro forecasts fiscal 2027 revenue between $65 billion and $72 billion, as the company is in the process of a historic infrastructure buildout.
Manufacturing Expansion
The company recently announced a new 32-acre datacenter building block solutions (DCBBS) campus in Silicon Valley, featuring advanced optical photonics networking labs and DC scale manufacturing. At the same time, facilities in Taiwan, Malaysia, and the Netherlands are ramping strongly to meet demand, putting the total manufacturing capability on track to exceed 6,000 racks per month, including more than 3,000 direct liquid-cooled racks per month.
